Activities upto 2002
 

June 2001 was a memorable month.  We had the fortune to have Sri T N Seshagopalan sing for us, on Muthiah Bhagavathar's anniversary.  Needless to say, it was a treat to an eager audience. 

In November 2001, Narada Gana Sabha celebrated Muthiah Bhagavathar's birth anniversary with a concert by Gayathri Girish.

In June 2002, we conducted our now annual music competition.  We had a very good response and saw a great deal of talent.  The judging was of very high order.  The judges were Smt.Lalitha Sivakumar, Smt.Akhila Siva and Smt.Meena Venkateswaran. 

The winners in the 13-17 yrs group:
1.  Bharath Sundar
2.  K Vidya
3.  Rahul

Encouragement Prize was awarded to B Ramnath.

The winner in the 18 -25 yrs group:
1.  Bharathi Ramasubban

Sri P Unnikrishnan gave a most delightful concert on June 29th.  He made the intrinsically beautiful Meenalochan in Todi, Neepadame in Bhairavi and Sampathprade in Kalyani sound divine.  He had the audience arrested with his shower of melody.

This trust was inaugurated on 27th June 1997 by Smt. D.K. Pattammal. Several talented young artistes readily came forward to render Sri. Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar's kritis. Their generosity in sparing their time & sharing this expertise made the function a big success.  The artistes were Nityashree, Chinmaya Sisters, Lakshmi Rangarajan, Sangeetha Sivakumar, Sanjay.S., Vijay Siva, T.M. Krishna, K. Vijayaraghavan & the accompanying artistes were Bombay Ranjani, Poorna Siva, R.K. Sriram Kumar, Varadarajan, Manoj Siva,  Kallidaikuruchi Sivakumar, Arun Prakash & Madipaakkam Suresh. 

In association with Narada Gana Sabha Trust, Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar's birth anniversary on Nov 15th 1997 was celebrated.  Sri. G.K.Moopanar presided. Semmangudi Sri. Srinivasa Iyer released a cassette of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar's songs rendered by Smt.Shyamala Venkateswaran and Sri.A.V.M. Saravanan received the first cassette. 

In June 1998 Lalgudi Sri. G. Jayaraman delivered the 1st Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar memorial lecture, followed by a Harikatha by Smt. Pramila Gurumurthy.  The program concluded with a recital by Sri. N. Vijay Siva. 

In November 1998, Narada Gana Sabha trust with Harikesanjali, held a concert by Neyveli Santhana Gopalan which was preceded by a lecture by Dr. V.V.Srivatsa. 

In June 1999 Dr. S.A.K. Durga delivered  the 2nd Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar memorial lecture. This was followed by a Bharathanatyam recital of   Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar's compositions by Sumitra Nitin to her mother Sujatha Vijayaraghavan's explanatory details. 
The programme concluded with a concert by Smt. Sowmya & Party. 

In  November 1999, with Narada Gana Sabha Trust was held a concert by Sri. Rajkumar Bharathi & party. 

In June 2000 Smt. Vidya Shankar delivered the 3rd  Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar memorial lecture. This was followed by a concert by T.M.Krishna & party. 

In November 2000 with Narada Gana Sabha Trust, Smt. Sowmya & party's concert was held. 

In pursuance of the Trust's objectives, a Vocal Music competition of  Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar Krithis was held on 17th June 2001, in the age groups 13-17 & 18-25.

The HARIKESANJALI Trust (www.Saigan Connection.com/harikesanjali), formed to propagate the compositions of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar, conducted a music competition on June 17.  The contestants of age groups 13-17 and 18-25 had to sing only Muthiah Bhagavathar's songs.  The winners in the 13-17 age group: First Prize - Subhiksha Rangarajan; Second - A Rohith; Third - Bharathi Ramasubban; Consolation Prize - K Vidya.  No prizes were awarded in the senior category.  The prizes will be given away at the Trust's fourth anniversary function on July 1, at 6 p.m. at the Narada Gana Sabha.

On Sunday July 1st 2001' Harikesanjali with Narada Gana Sabha trust will present a concert by Madurai Sri. T.N. Seshagopalan.
