Your new puppy is like a baby, and will probably be frightened and apprehensive of the new environment to which he is transferred. Initially, he will need a lot of affection and attention. He should be allowed to explore his new home & choose his favourite spots. Loud noise and boisterous reactions could scare him at this stage. He is likely to venture into forbidden places or mess up the house. But, it is too early to speak very harshly to him or punish him at this stage, for this will only build up a fear for you. He can slowly be exposed to friends. They are instinctively social & will soon make good friends.
It is best to select two syllable names ending in "a" or "o", for most commands like "sit", "stay" are one syllable & calling him by name should not seem to him like a reprimand. And once the name has been decided on, he has to be repeatedly and consistently called by that name so that he soon makes the association & starts responding to his name. Initially, it would be best to avoid nicknames.
