15th AUGUST - OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY

Class X
15th August is our Independence Day.
Many leaders their lives had to lay,
For the freedom of our country,
From the bonds of foreign entry.

This Day we got freedom at midnight hour,
The day when India got its full power
From the Britishers hands,
And we became free from all bonds.

From the Britishers hands the Nation became free
Everyone celebrated its freedom with glee,
No more of India's exploitation,
No more of British domination.

At the cost of partition, we got our freedom
Alas ! into two, had to be divided the vast kingdom.
This day is a memorable day to our Nation
As we all are free from foreign domination.

CARE OF THE ELDERS

Today's elders
Yesterday's builders,
Let them not be forlorn and lonely,
Look after them and make them feel wanted.

Many of them in old home
Waiting for what may come,
Their children did they look after,
But now they have not a word softer.

The children often have no gratitude,
Leaving the old, shocked with their attitude,
Many are thrown out of their home
Without caring for what may be the outcome.

Be friendly to your grandmothers
Let your words be kind to grandfathers
Let us show them we have concern and care
And let that be our goal for now and forever.
