West Indies
BRIAN LARA
This man from Trinidad and Tobago is the the best batsman around in
the world after Sachin . Got the highest score in tests(375n.o) in Sabina
Park Jamaica. Though this man has not shown his heroics in ODIs , he is
always a force to reckon with. He was laid down a bit low during
the series against Australia this year but is back to form with superb
centuries in the second innings of both the matches. He has a good cricketing
brain and lot of imagination , a boon to his team . Is a very good
fielder has one of the safest pair of hands in the Carribeans .Whether
this Pole Star of a fading galaxy of Carribean Cricket can take home
the the cup which his team lost to India in 1983 at this very same place
can win it is to be seen .
COURTNEY WALSH
This ageing workhorse is the last of the galaxy of great fast bowlers produced by these sunny islands. he has a earth shattering speed with a slow runup . Got lots of experience in handling batsmen in the world arena. Has performed well even in the Sub-Continent where the pitches offer least support to quick bowling. Can effectively pull down the run rate of the opposing team and pick wickets up the same time. This guy due for retirement may be playing his last world cup. His experience may be helpful in taking his teams to win the cup.
SHIVNARAINE CHANDERPAUL
This young man is the most promising youngster in the indies at present
. is a good batsman . Has learnt to play equally well quick bowling and
spin bowling . Infact, he is one of the few who play spin bowling well
in the islands . Has an Attacking Attitude very important for one day matches
. In addition he can bowl off spin in the time the teams needs it . Is
a good fielder also . So he makes a very fine one day player indeed.
